Otherrealm Album Series Pt 2
Continuing with the album art motif I wanted to explore fantasy themes next. Ive been listening to a lot of dungeon-synth recently and drew some inspiration from that.
Otherrealm Album series pt1
Lately I have been on a YouTube tutorial frenzy to learn more techniques in photoshop. Otherrealm is a project that encapsulates these into a series of album cover designs for a fictional band. Currently I am taking most of my inspiration from syntwave and vaporwave genres but otherrealm can be anything.
I will definitely be revisiting this concept again so I am calling it Pt 1. I am listening to a lot of dungeonsynth and Drum and bass music rignt now so the next wave will probably head in that direction.
reticulation POsters
This is a technique I learned that involves overlaying a reticulation pattern on the posterize effect in photoshop to achieve a classic movie poster effect.
Halftone Patterns
This Photoshop effect involves adding a halftone pattern over your image with the Hard Mix layer style. I then color the image with a Gradient mask.
Having a good Halftone pattern allowed me to adjust the scale/density and angle of the pattern. Adding grunge layers add to the Printed look of the effect.
Brutalisum
Brutalisum is a technique in photoshp that involves adding the threshold filter to an image to get a grungy screen printed look.
You can then tweak the threshold slider as well as use the burn and dodge tools on the underlying image to get the look you want.
I enjoyed learning about this effect. And this style let me to learn about other techniques i will show in my next two blog posts.
Blog intro
Since taking my new job I have some downtime while waiting for calls or other office responsibilities to come in across my desk. In an attempt to use this time wisely I am honing my design skills on my own projects and online tutorials.
This Blog is a place for anything that isn’t part of my work experience portfolio that I am working on. Hopefully it will become a creative outlet for me during my time at WAKY signs.
The first few posts will be back to back as they encapsulate the last 3 months of projects.
